Prisma Health offers free flue shot clinics throughout October

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Prisma Health is launching its annual Midlands and Upstate community flu vaccination campaign to offer protection against the virus.

Starting on Oct. 1, families can visit pop-up clinics throughout South Carolina to get free flu shots. The flu shot is available to anyone six months and older. Limited high-dose flu vaccines will be offered for people ages 65 and older.

The announcement from Prisma Health arrives shortly after the South Carolina Department of Health’s annual recommendation to get the vaccination. Officials said the vaccine takes about two weeks to build protection. Flu activity typically peaks between December and February.
