Early morning fire in St. Andrews area complex displaces 11 people

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Crews from the Columbia Richland Fire Department and Irmo Fire District were busy early Thursday morning battling a two-alarm fire at a St. Andrews area condominium complex.

First shift crews were called to Village Creek condominiums off Kay Street shortly before 1:30 a.m. March 26.

Arriving at the scene, firefighters found heavy fire coming through the roof of a two-story condo building and out of the front windows. Portions of the roof had also completely burned away, prompting the first crews on the scene to call for a second alarm, adding more crews to the call…
