COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) will be holding a Civilian Firearms Course for community members in June, helping equip civilians with the proper knowledge and skills to protect themselves.
MCSO officials say the course is intended to help civilians prevent themselves from becoming a victim of a crime.
All dates and times of the courses are listed below:
- Classroom Date:
June 22, 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the MCSO Admin Building located at 1000 5th Ave.
- MCSO Range Date:
June 27, 8 a.m. to noon at the MCSO Range located at 7149 Manor Rd.
According to MCSO, the day one classroom course will cover the following topics:
- Explain about Weapons Carry Permits
- Georgia Gun Laws
- Intro to Refuse to be a Victim
- Safety
- Shooting Fundamentals
- Using Deadly Force
Day two at the MCSO Range will comprise of:
- Application of Shooting fundamentals
- Firing live rounds on command
- Real world scenario training
