COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office and Rally Point Harley-Davidson held their first-ever “Cruisin’ for Classrooms” motorcycle rally Saturday, raising money for local teachers ahead of the new school year.
More than 50 bikes took part in the ride, which drew dozens of motorcycle enthusiasts to support Talbot County educators. One hundred percent of proceeds from the event will go directly to teachers to help supply their classrooms.
The ride
The rally launched from the Talbot County Recreation Center and wrapped up at Rally Point Harley-Davidson in Columbus. Each participating bike paid $20 to join the ride, plus $10 for raffle tickets, with all money going back to educators.
Behind the effort
Deputy Christopher Parker, a member of the motorcycle community and a Talbot County Sheriff’s Office deputy, organized the event after the department identified a need to help educators stock their classrooms — many of whom spend their own money on supplies.
