Buena Vista appoints first female police chief

BUENA VISTA, Ga. (WTVM) – The Buena Vista City Council appointed Sharon Williams as chief of police Tuesday night, making her the first woman to hold the position in the city’s history.

Williams, who has 28 years of law enforcement experience was officially appointed to the role April 21.

“I am honored and proud to appoint you as our new Chief of Police,” Mayor Kevin T. Brown said. “Your leadership, dedication, and commitment to public service have prepared you well for this important role.”…
