Couple rescued from 43-degree Lake Huron after kayaks capsize near Michigan’s Thumb

SANILAC COUNTY, MI – Two vacationers were rescued by state authorities early Thursday after their kayaks capsized on Lake Huron about a mile offshore of Michigan’s Thumb.

According to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, two officials were patrolling on the lake at around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 4, near southern Sanilac County and northern St. Clair County when they spotted one of the kayaks.
