Union Pacific’s Big Boy draws fans in Ohio

Union Pacific’s Big Boy 4014 steam engine pulled rail cars across Northwestern Ohio June 6 with train fans lining the tracks at nearly every county road and street crossing it passed. It made a short stop in Fostoria.

The engine, 132 feet in length and 1.2 million pounds, left Fostoria and continued eastward on Norfolk Southern’s railway.

As the steam engine rolled into Bellevue Sunday afternoon, it was greeted by the Bellevue and Clyde Fire Departments’ bucket trucks, which extended their arms over the rails to hang a large American flag for the Big Boy to pass under.
