Protect your sweet corn from hungry Ohio wildlife

My favorite meal is a rack of smoked pork ribs and six ears of boiled sweet corn, smothered in butter, and covered in salt and pepper. One of the best things about living in the Midwest is the fresh, locally grown sweet corn in the summer. As you can tell, I love sweet corn.

So does just about everything else that lives in Ohio.

In addition to agronomy issues, which can reduce the harvest, wildlife can also take a heavy toll on sweet corn. White-tailed deer and raccoons are probably the most common offenders. At each stage of the growing cycle, there is wildlife that will feed on it…
