Columbus Blessing Boxes Project struggling to keep cabinets filled

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The “Columbus Blessing Boxes Project” aims to tackle food insecurity, but over the past month, it has become more difficult to keep their publicly located cabinets filled.

The founder, Gretchen Davis, shared that this summer has shown how in-demand food and other resources are in the community. The program remains dedicated to providing support for those who need its help.

“It’s always a hard transition,” Davis said. “The meals with the kids count on, breakfast and lunch that are provided by the schools obviously aren’t happening now. There are lots of places in Columbus to get free meals, but not everyone is able to get to their parents’ work. You can’t walk that far. Things like that.”
