GROVEPORT, Ohio (WCMH) — A manufacturer will close this year, with 92 employees laid off.
Water heater, boiler and treatment company A. O. Smith Corporation announced it will close its Groveport facilities over the next six months and move production out of state. According to a layoff notice filed with the state, the play will close on Dec. 11, with 92 employees laid off between Aug. 24 and January 2027.
Lauren Staiduhar, human resources director for A. O. Smith, said in a letter that the decision was made after “careful consideration and many internal conversations” regarding simplifying the business.
