Extra Police Patrols Expected in Monday’s “Move Over” Law Enforcement Effort

ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 20, 2026) – A state law that has been on the books for more than two years will be spotlighted on regional roads on Monday.

There will be extra patrols of law enforcement officers from various levels on highways in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Pennsylvania, between 11 AM and 4 PM, on a one-day, high-visibility effort to enforce “move over” requirements. This means that vehicles are required to slow down and merge to the left (or right) when there is an emergency vehicle with flashers on along the road shoulder or median.
