TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – We are one step closer to seeing a bypass on US 23 from northwest Ohio to Columbus.
ODOT has identified a preferred route, if the plan becomes a reality. There’s been talk over the last several decades of people hoping and asking for the bypass. What we see now is pen to paper — a preferred route that might actually happen.
Where the route would go
That route is north of Waldo, just before you get to Delaware County. It’s a bypass off US 23, before you hit all the traffic lights. The route would connect to Interstate 71 and then continue down into Columbus.
“ODOT and our legislators are really taking this issue seriously. For the first time ever, we’ve seen an actual proposed plan,” said Brian Dicken with the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce.
What it means for commuters and businesses
Northwest Ohio businesses and legislative leaders have pushed for this alternate route along US 23. Commuters and travelers could be looking at significant time savings on a typical day — more on heavy traffic days. Businesses would benefit from less travel time and more stability…
