What Columbus police first logged as a shooting call late Thursday night turned out to be something else entirely: a domestic violence stabbing that left a woman with multiple cuts before she drove herself to a nearby street seeking help. Officers have since charged 20-year-old Kimyada Jordan with felonious assault in connection with the attack.
Police received the initial shooting report at 11:32 p.m. Thursday and responded to the 1100 block of St. Cecelia Drive in Columbus’s Hilltop neighborhood, according to myfox28columbus.com. When officers arrived, they found a victim with numerous injuries. It wasn’t until Domestic Violence Unit detectives began investigating that they determined the victim had not been shot at all — she had suffered several cuts from an apparent stabbing and cutting attack, the outlet reported.
Investigators learned the assault actually happened roughly a mile away, in the 900 block of Racine Avenue, and that the victim drove herself to the St. Cecelia Drive area afterward. The two locations sit less than 1.5 miles apart within the 43204 ZIP code, according to Ohio Department of Transportation road records. The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition and is expected to recover, per the same account.
