COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A major name change and bill redesign are coming for one of Ohio’s largest electric utilities.
AEP Ohio is changing its name to Ohio Power Company and will update its monthly electric bill with a new design starting Oct. 1. Customers across the state will see the new name on bills, the company’s website and customer communications. The rebrand highlights the legal name the company has used for years and renews its focus on serving 1.5 million customers.
In October, Ohio Power will begin sending out a newly formatted electric bill. The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio approved this redesign earlier this year. The new bill is meant to give customers more transparent information about their charges, their electricity supplier and how distribution, transmission and generation costs shape the total cost.
