In-home childcare operator sentenced to life in prison in death of 5-month-old boy

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — An in-home childcare operator convicted in the death of a 5-month-old baby was sentenced Wednesday.

Tammra Straughter was sentenced to life in prison, the maximum allowable penalty.

She was convicted in August of murder and child endangerment in the death of Kash Crawford-Chatman.

The infant was rushed to the hospital in October 2023 and died a few days later. Straughter’s attorneys claimed Kash had gotten sick and that she tried to help him…
