Woman shot by Columbus police officer Wednesday was arrested day before

The woman accused of hitting a Columbus police sergeant, who shot her while on the hood of the car , was arrested the day before but was not held in jail, according to court records.

Holly Graham, 32, remains hospitalized in stable condition at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, according to police. Her last known address was listed in Columbus.

The unidentified sergeant shot Graham Wednesday afternoon after an unsuccessful traffic stop prompted by a 911 call to report she was driving a stolen car, according to police reports.

Graham is now charged with felonious assault causing serious physical harm to a peace officer, according to Franklin County Municipal Court records. No court date is set for her first appearance on that charge.

Columbus police said Thursday the department would not release the sergeant’s name as the Columbus Division of Police considers officers hurt in such incidents as victims whose names do not have to be released. The sergeant is a 10-year veteran of the force and is expected to fully recover from his injuries. He was released from OhioHealth Grant Medical Center on Friday.
