Rece Davis Names Major CFB Program That ‘Pushed All Their Chips To The Middle’ This Offseason

ESPN’s Rece Davis believes that Ohio State will be one of the most fascinating teams in the country next season after an active offseason for the Buckeyes. On the College GameDay Podcast , he explained why Michigan’s national title run changed the approach at Ohio State this offseason.

“Ohio State will be No. 2 and they will probably be the most fascinating team simply because they have pushed all of their chips to the middle right now by getting all of these players,” Davis said.

“They went out and opened the vault and done it exactly the way the most aggressive port of people are doing it. It’s as if they’re like, ‘Okay Michigan won it and so now not all bets are off… All bets are on.'”

The Buckeyes signed the No. 3 recruiting class nationally this offseason, led by five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and five-star EDGE Eddrick Houston. Five-star Alabama signee Julian Sayin also transferred to Ohio State after Nick Saban announced his retirement in January.

Ohio State also landed one of the most impressive transfer classes of the offseason. SEC Freshman of the Year and former Alabama safety Caleb Downs headlined the transfer portal haul for the Buckeyes. Former Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins and Kansas State quarterback Will Howard also will take their talents to Columbus.
