Clerk’s mistake at checkout turns into big lottery win for Ohio man

(WKRC) – Sometimes luck doesn’t just knock — it shows up as a checkout mix-up.

A Lake County man told Ohio Lottery officials that he went into a Chestnut Food Mart in Painesville on March 14, planning to play EZPLAY Quick Spot. He plays regularly and had noticed people winning frequently with the $1 tickets, so he decided to give it a try.

He asked the salesclerk for five $1 tickets and one $5 ticket, but instead he was given one $10 Quick Spot ticket. He decided to keep it anyway, folded it up and put it in his pocket…
