Morrow County man who robbed the same Columbus bank twice is sentenced to federal prison

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A Morrow County man charged with robbing the same Columbus bank twice within 10 weeks will serve nearly 15 years in prison.

According to federal prosecutors, James Scurlock of Cardington stole over $40,000 from a Huntington Bank on Gemini Place, just north of Polaris Fashion Place. Court documents state that Scurlock, 44, committed the crimes on March 6 and May 16, 2025.

During the first robbery, Scurlock, wearing a white camouflage mask and latex gloves, initially inquired about opening an account and responded to a request to produce two forms of identification, he pointed a handgun at the bank teller.

“I’m sorry, I don’t want to do this. Don’t do anything stupid. No dye packs. Give it all to me. No one move,” Scurlock said, according to court records…
