New Food Court Concept Proposed for Long-Vacant Site

A new proposal for two long-vacant buildings near Clintonville has been submitted to the City of Columbus. Located at 21 E. Arcadia Ave., the red brick buildings – which were built by the Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company in 1949 and used as utility buildings by AEP – have been empty for years.

After several failed attempts to turn the buildings into residences over the last decade, the latest proposal calls for converting them into a multi-tenant food hall.

“This project transforms two existing buildings and an outdoor courtyard into a cohesive food-and-beverage destination,” reads a summary accompanying the submitted materials. “The courtyard will provide a simple, low-maintenance outdoor space for seating and flexible event use, supporting both daily operations and special gatherings…new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system is required throughout.”…
