Death of teen found in Ohio prompts lawsuit against Roblox, Discord

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Indiana’s attorney general has filed a lawsuit against Roblox and Discord after the death of 17-year-old resident Hailey Buzbee, who communicated with a Columbus man on the platforms before being found dead in Ohio.

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita filed the 70-page lawsuit on May 6, alleging the companies violated the Indiana Deceptive Consumer Sales Act by marketing their products as safe for children while failing to implement adequate protections against online predators.

“These companies, which cater to kids and young individuals, know full well that numerous predatory sex criminals have used these platforms to contact and lure their victims,” Rokita said in a news release. “And yet, they continue promoting themselves as safe for children. That is more than reckless.”…
