Man arrested for attempted murder in suspected Riverside County shooting

A 30-year-old man from Riverside County faces attempted murder charges after he allegedly shot at another vehicle near the intersection of Grapefruit Boulevard and 4th Street in an unincorporated community of Riverside County known as Mecca Friday.

The shooting happened around 6:12 p.m., witnesses told the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies searched the scene of the shooting and received descriptions of the vehicles involved in the shooting.

Deputies were able to track down the driver whose vehicle was shot at, the sheriff’s department said. The driver was uninjured in the shooting and provided investigators with more information.

During the investigation, deputies identified Mecca resident Ricardo Zendejas as the suspected shooter. Deputies found Zendejas driving in Sky Valley and pulled him over. Zendejas was arrested and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for attempted murder…
