A 28-year-old Orange County man was taken into custody after police said he intentionally and fatally ran another man down with his vehicle over the weekend.
The June 13 violence broke out around 10:30 p.m. in the 600 block of South Fashion Park Street in Orange, according to a news release from the Orange Police Department.
Officers responded to reports of a fight in the area but said the suspect, Abrahan Perez, an Orange resident, had already left in a vehicle. Investigators said he later returned to the location, drove his vehicle onto a courtyard area of the apartment complex and accelerated directly toward an adult male victim.
“The vehicle struck the victim, causing critical injuries,” the release stated.
Medical personnel responded to the scene and rushed the victim to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
