With Fourth of July this Saturday, Riverside County reminds all residents and visitors that fireworks are illegal in most areas. Celebrate the 250th anniversary of the nation safely and leave the fireworks to the professionals. Individuals who shoot illegal fireworks into the air could face up to $1,000 in fines.
The County of Riverside runs an annual multi-department enforcement effort, as well as a bilingual campaign, “If You Light it, We’ll Write it,” during the holiday. Teams from the Fire Department, Sheriff’s Office and Code Enforcement work side-by-side to issue citations with fines to curb the illegal fireworks that have the potential to cause fires, injuries and other devastating effects to people, pets and neighborhoods.
Throughout the Fourth of July holiday weekend, the “If You Light it, We’ll Write it” public awareness campaign will reach millions using billboards, social media and internet advertising.
