June’s king tides and high surf caused minor damage at Capistrano Beach, moving sand and debris across the parking lot and bike path and damaging sections of asphalt, according to Orange County officials. Several K-rails were also moved during the swell, with repair costs estimated at about $6,500.
“June’s high surf events and king tides caused minor erosion to portions of the parking lot and moved sand and debris across the parking lot and bike path,” said Danielle Kennedy, public information officer for OC Parks. “OC Parks crews have cleaned up the area, and everything is now reopened.”
The latest damage comes just weeks after Orange County completed a sand replenishment project at Capistrano Beach, bringing in 13,500 cubic yards of sand from Lapeyre Quarry in San Juan Capistrano…
