Students from Monache High School’s Manufacturing and Construction Technology Academy Pathway, MCTA, once again showcased their talent and skill at the 59th Annual SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference held April 9–12 in Ontario.
A total of 17 Monache students qualified for the state competition after strong performances at the regional contests in January. They competed in seven different state contests and returned home with two medals, including one student advancing to the national level.
Senior Alyssa Nunez earned a silver medal in Cabinetmaking and will represent California at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, June 1–5. Although she placed 2nd, the gold medal winner was unable to attend nationals, allowing Nunez to step in as California’s representative.
