ROBSTOWN, Texas — Honoring those that have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, that is the idea behind the observance of Memorial Day. That idea is being carried out in the form of a 10-mile ruck march in Robstown to observe Memorial Day 2026.
A group of South Texas veterans are picking up their ruck sacks and making the 10-mile march through the streets of Robstown to honor fallen heroes of the past and present.
Marcos Alvarado spent more than 11 years in the Marine Corps infantry and says he’s walking for Marine Sgt. William C. Stacey, who was killed in action Jan. 31, 2012. Stacey died while conducting combat operations during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. He was 23 years old, and Alvarado says he had his full life ahead of him…
