The National Hurricane Center on Tuesday issued its first advisory on Potential Tropical Cyclone One, warning that the system off the South Texas coast could strengthen into a tropical storm within 24 hours as it begins a slow, moisture-heavy trek toward the northwest Gulf Coast.
As of 10 a.m. CDT, the disturbance was located about 65 miles southwest of Corpus Christi, moving northeast at 6 mph with maximum sustained winds near 30 mph.
