Bicyclist critically injured in collision with intoxicated driver

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A male bicyclist sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car early Friday morning, according to police. Officers were dispatched to the intersection of McArdle Road and Mokry Street at 5:52 a.m. on September 14, 2024, in response to a major traffic collision involving a bicyclist. Upon arrival, they found the male bicyclist had been hit by a black passenger car. Medics transported the injured man to a local hospital. Police determined that the driver, Faith Perez, was traveling westbound on McArdle Road when she struck the bicyclist, who was also heading westbound. Officers found Perez to be intoxicated and arrested her for intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury. After being medically cleared at a local hospital, Perez was taken to the City Detention Center for booking.
