CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Former Corpus Christi City Council member Billy Lerma announced Monday he is running for City Council District 1, setting up a potential campaign for a seat being vacated by incumbent Everett Roy.
Lerma made the announcement on Facebook, citing a desire to bring “practical leadership that listens, follows through, and stays focused on the issues that affect families every day.”
A Corpus Christi native and Tuloso-Midway graduate, Lerma served in the U.S. Marine Corps, worked for the U.S. Postal Service before retiring, served as a planning commissioner, previously held a seat on the Corpus Christi City Council, and has spent more than 25 years on the Tuloso-Midway Independent School District board…
