Drivers in Cherokee County should expect lane closures at five road construction sites throughout August, with work crews on the road weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
What’s happening: Cherokee County is actively working on five road improvement projects funded through its Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax and Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax programs. Both are voter-approved sales taxes used to pay for infrastructure improvements.
The five active sites:
- SR 140 at Batesville Road/Hickory Road: final cleanup, thermoplastic striping, and permanent sign installation
- Trickum Road from Belles Lane to Sycamore Lane: grading, paving, storm drainage, and roadway leveling, with a traffic shift and paving beginning the week of August 10
- SR 92 at Trickum Road: asphalt work, curb, gutter, sidewalk and retaining wall construction, utility work, and traffic signal improvements
- South Jett Road from Cobb County to Hames Road: road grading, stone base installation, and curb, gutter, sidewalk and driveway construction moving south from Hames Road
- Dupree Road at King Arthur Drive: final grading, final asphalt paving, striping, and signage installation
