Police in Georgia say a group of people stole a French bulldog that had escaped its owner’s car in a parking lot, because people who find lost items have a responsibility to try to find the rightful owner.

Gwinnett County Police said officers responded on March 23 to a report that a French bulldog had been stolen after it jumped out of its owner’s running vehicle while they went “briefly” into a store.
