Chowdhury pledges to donate portion of salary if elected to Gwinnett Commission

GWINNETT COUNTY — District 4 Board of Commissioners candidate Arefeen Chowdhury announced a campaign pledge one day before early voting begins to donate 25% of his commissioner salary, after taxes, to nonprofit organizations serving the district if elected.

Chowdhury, a business executive running for the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners, said the initiative, which he calls a “Give Back Pledge” is intended to demonstrate a commitment to public service and community investment.

“Public service should never be about personal benefit,” Chowdhury said in a statement. “If I’m asking for the public’s trust, I should be willing to personally invest back into the community.”…
