Two people arrested after attempting to smuggle drugs, other contraband into Georgia prison

GEORGIA — Two Georgia women are facing multiple charges after deputies said they attempted to smuggle drugs, phones and other contraband into a state prison using a drone.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded May 3 to a report of a suspicious vehicle near Washington State Prison in Washington County, Georgia.

During the investigation, deputies located contraband hidden in a nearby field. Authorities said the items included nearly three pounds of marijuana, tobacco products, cell phones, chargers, clothing items and saw blades…
