The Jackson EMC Foundation has announced $45,000 gifted to organizations serving Hall County during a recent meeting.
$81,070 in grants was given out in total. The $45,000 that were awarded to Hall County organizations are as follows:
- $8,000 to Fresh Wind Recovery, Athens, to provide addiction recovery services for low-income residents in Barrow, Clarke, Hall, Jackson, Madison and Oglethorpe counties.
- $8,000 to Helping Mamas, Inc., Norcross, for a program to purchase diapers for families in Gwinnett, Hall and Lumpkin counties.
- $7,500 to Adventure Bags, Winder, for a program to purchase bags and supplies for children facing crisis situations in Banks, Barrow, Clarke, Franklin, Gwinnett, Hall and Jackson counties.
- $5,000 to Friends of Disabled Adults and Children Too, Inc., for a program that provides refurbished medical equipment to individuals in need in all counties served by Jackson EMC.
- $5,000 to Hall-Dawson CASA Program, Inc., Gainesville, for training volunteers to be court-appointed advocates for children in foster care in Hall County.
- $5,000 to Sleep in Heavenly Peace (Belmont Chapter), Gainesville, for a program to provide building supplies for volunteers to build beds for children in need in Hall and Jackson counties.
- $5,000 to Wellspring Living, Inc., for a program that provides mental health sessions for women in Gwinnett and Hall counties who are survivors of sexual exploitation.
- $2,000 to 360 Love Healing and Abundance Corp., Gainesville, for a workshop program that provides financial literacy lessons for individuals in Hall County.
The Jackson EMC Foundation’s grants are made possible by the over-220,000 cooperative members that round up their monthly electric bills through the Operation Round Up program.
To date, the spare change has funded nearly 2,200 grants to organizations and over 400 grants to individuals, investing more than $22.8-million back into local communities since the program started in 2005…
