Texas DPS ending Tollway patrols after letting key contract expire with NTTA

DALLAS — Texas Department of Public Safety troopers will no longer patrol North Texas tollways after the agency opted not to renew a key contract with the North Texas Tollway Authority.

In a statement to WFAA, NTTA confirmed that DPS formally notified the agency it would not be renewing the Interlocal Cooperation Contract between the two agencies upon its expiration. DPS determined that the current service-for-fees model no longer aligned with the department’s statewide mission.

The decision will have a direct impact on police response on some of the region’s busiest roads, including the Dallas North Tollway, Chisholm Trail Parkway, and Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge, among others across North Texas…
