Taco Bell relaunches popular 2016 menu items

DALLAS (KDAF) — Taco Bell is bringing back four 2016 menu items nationwide on Aug. 20 as part of the third chapter of its Decades Menu. The limited-time lineup includes the Naked Chicken Chalupa, Beefy Crunch Burrito, Meximelt and Caramel Apple Empanada.

The menu release pairs the returning food items with brand partnerships alongside Anti Social Social Club, Camp Snap and video application Divine. Taco Bell Rewards members can receive early access to the Beefy Crunch Burrito through the company’s mobile application ahead of the full menu launch.

The Naked Chicken Chalupa, priced at $5.99, features a crispy shell made from all-white-meat chicken marinated in Mexican-inspired spices, filled with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and Avocado Ranch Sauce. The item originally tested in Kansas City in 2016. Taco Bell is also offering the item in a $9 Discovery Luxe Box, which includes a Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito, Crunchy Taco, Chips & Nacho Cheese sauce and a medium fountain drink.

The other returning items feature ingredients from the 2016 menu lineup. The Beefy Crunch Burrito costs $2.79 and contains seasoned beef, Flamin’ Hot Fritos, seasoned rice, reduced-fat sour cream and nacho cheese sauce. The Meximelt is priced at $2.99 and includes seasoned beef, pico de gallo and a warm three-cheese blend in a soft flour tortilla.
