BUDAPEST, Hungary — Sha’Carri Richardson runs the women’s 100-meter final at the first World Athletics Ultimate Championship on Saturday, a race that pays $150,000 to the winner and awards no medals to anyone.
The final is scheduled for 1:38 p.m. CT at the National Athletics Centre, on the same track where Richardson won the 2023 world title. Peacock and NBCSN carry the session, which begins at 11:08 a.m. CT and also holds the men’s and women’s 400-meter finals, the women’s pole vault, and the women’s javelin. Semifinals in the 100 run earlier in the evening.
The Sha’Carri Richardson Track At John Kincaide Stadium
Richardson is a native of South Dallas who was raised in Oak Cliff and attended Dallas ISD campuses from elementary school through Carter High School, where she won eight state sprint titles. The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees voted in October 2023 to name the track at John Kincaide Stadium after her. The City of Dallas declared Nov. 10, 2023, Sha’Carri Richardson Day. Signage went up 11 months later, unveiled at halftime of Carter’s football game against Wilmer-Hutchins on Sept. 20, 2024.
