The FBI Just Raised the Stakes in the Abel Acosta Case

(KNUE-FM) The FBI is offering a reward for anyone who can provide information regarding a fatal 2021 convenience store shooting in Texas. The FBI and Garland Police have announced a $50,000 reward for the capital murder suspect Abel Elias Acosta.

Who Is Abel Acosta and Why Is He Wanted?

According to NBCDFW, Abel Elias Acosta is wanted out of Dallas County and is facing charges of capital murder in connection with a deadly shooting that took the lives of three teenagers in Garland. The crime took place the day after Christmas in 2021.

What Happened in the Garland Convenience Store Shooting?

Garland Police were called to a convenience store with reports of multiple gunshot victims. The three victims were identified as 17-year-old Rafael Garcia, 16-year-old Ivan Noyola, and 14-year-old Xavier Gonzales. The three victims were all pronounced dead at the scene, while a fourth victim was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Acosta was 14 at the time of the shooting and was identified as the alleged shooter. Surveillance from the scene shows a person getting out of a pickup truck and starting to shoot. Just seconds later the shooter ran outside and got back in the truck. Acosta’s father, Richard Acosta, was later identified, indicted, and convicted for capital murder for his role in driving the truck.

There is an active warrant for capital murder issued for Abel Acosta. There is also a federal warrant issued for an unlawful flight to avoid prosecution charge, but he has not been found by law enforcement so they can take him into custody.
