Dallas Zoo introduces new tiger cubs.
The Dallas Zoo reached out Thursday with news: the public has chosen a name for its new female Sumatran tiger cub. Rina is named after a ranger from the Sumatran Ranger Project. Her brother was named Serasi by Zoo staff to honor another ranger from the project who passed away.
This week, they began exploring the tiger habitat with their mom, Suki, and staff can already see the differences in their personalities. “While Serasi approached the space with a more timid, cautious curiosity, his sister Rina eagerly embraced the larger habitat, venturing away from Suki to actively explore every corner,” Zoo spokesperson Devan George says. “Her confidence quickly turned into full-on adventure, until mom had to step in and gently rein her back in.” The Zoo says there isn’t a set schedule for seeing them just yet, but they will occasionally be in the habitat and visible to guests…
