12 Texas Target stores will get H-E-B-style upgrades. Here’s what we know.

A bougie grocery chain will upgrade dozens of its stores in 2026, including those in San Antonio. Target recently announced a $5 billion project to modernize its interiors, add new shopping features and help reduce customer wait times.

Updates to the stores include more grab-and-go meals, locally relevant murals and displays made in state, according to a Target press release. More than 130 stores will get makeovers, with 12 in Texas, giving the state the highest number of remodels nationwide.

Visitors may notice that some of the new elements are similar to those featured at H-E-B stores, where guests can purchase Meal Simple trays and view artwork designed by local creatives.
