BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) – For the second time in recent weeks, the Butler County bomb squad has been called out to dispose of potentially explosive material.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office said two boxes of black powder pellets made in 1963 were found among the belongings of a family’s deceased relative in Hamilton. The sheriff’s office said the pellets were used to help ignite the main smokeless powder propellant charge used in massive naval guns and other large-caliber artillery pieces, including those found aboard battleships.
There were 20 pellets total, according to the sheriff’s office. The bomb unit safely recovered and disposed of the materials without incident…
