PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A stadium light pole toppled during Sunday’s severe storms at Riverside Local Schools, but district officials say the bigger concern is what engineers may find when they inspect the three poles still standing.
Superintendent Christopher Rateno told the Riverside Board of Education on Tuesday that the fallen light could force the district to replace all four stadium light poles, a project estimated to cost about $400,000 if inspections determine the remaining structures are unsafe.
Now, officials are waiting for an engineering assessment of the three remaining poles to determine whether the collapse was an isolated incident or evidence of broader deterioration in the lighting system…
