Local animal shelter celebrates success of volunteers

DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — A local animal shelter is celebrating those who give their time to help care for dogs in need of a home.

Montgomery County Animal Resource Center volunteers donated 1,333 hours of their time to caring for dogs last year.

That led to over 600 dogs being adopted.

Of course, one of the benefits of volunteering is getting to play with the animals all day, but opportunities are available even if you do not wish to work directly with them.

“We have volunteers who help out with laundry, if you can believe that, washing dishes, doing almost everything you can think of,” said Steve Glardon, MCARC outreach coordinator.

Carter also says volunteers contribute to paperwork and office duties alongside the front-counter staff.
