GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Greensboro has a new police chief about a month after former Chief John Thompson retired.
On Tuesday, the City of Greensboro announced that Kamran Afzal, chief of the Dayton Police Department in Ohio, was selected for the role. His first day will be May 13.
Afzal started his career in law enforcement with U.S. Capitol Police in 1991. He has worked as police chief in Durango, Colorado, from 2017 to 2018; in Hopewell, Virginia, from 2019 to 2021; and in Dayton from 2021 to today.
