Dayton appoints Henderson as chief of police

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The City of Dayton has named Kamran Afzal’s successor.

According to the city, Deputy Chief Eric A. Henderson will begin the role of chief of police for the Dayton Police Department on Thursday, May 7.

Henderson has over 27 years of law enforcement experience.

Selection Process

WDTN.com reported in March that Kamran Afzal announced his intention to resign and take the same position in Greensboro, North Carolina.

A “community stakeholder interview panel to ensure broad public participation” was conducted in the search for Afzal’s replacement.
