City of Trotwood asking residents to report vacant properties

A local community is looking to keep an eye on its aesthetics.

The city of Trotwood is asking the public for help in identifying vacant homes throughout the area, as such properties can drag down property values, become easy targets for vandalism, dumping and neglect.

“Early reporting allows the City to monitor and address issues before they become larger concerns,” the city said in a Facebook post.

Here are a few things to look for when identifying a vacant property.

  • Overgrown grass or weeds.
  • Mail or packages everywhere.
  • Trash all over the place.
  • Boarded windows or doors.
  • No regular activity.
