CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – An Atlanta man is behind bars on a $2.65 million bond after an undercover sting caught him collecting a decoy package of cash in an elaborate Social Security impersonation scam that cost an East Tennessee senior more than $51,000, authorities said Friday.

Abu Saleh, 47, of Atlanta, Georgia, was arrested Wednesday, September 30, in the parking lot of a McDonald’s on Peavine Road in Crossville after picking up what he believed was a $14,000 cash delivery.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation on September 28 after an elderly victim reported being targeted by a caller claiming to be a federal agent with the Social Security Administration…
