BOULDER, CO — Barry Morphew was arrested Thursday night in Boulder County after Colorado prosecutors accused him of violating the conditions of his release in a murder case that is scheduled for trial in 2027.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said deputies took him into custody around 9:11 p.m. on an outstanding warrant from Alamosa County for failure to comply. The arrest came one day after a judge ordered Morphew confined to his home while the court examined concerns raised by a reported hit-and-run in Denver.
Prosecutors said they had reviewed GPS data and believed Morphew used a work exception for trips that were not tied to work. They also argued that his conduct created an extreme flight risk.
