Due to public feedback, the Broomfield City Council is considering allowing large and agriculturally zoned properties to be exempt from the city’s universal waste hauling program passed in 2024.
Broomfield’s universal waste hauling program began last year and requires non-homeowners association residents — and HOA residents without contracted waste haulers — to use the city’s contracted waste services or pay a $10.50 per month opt-out fee.
In the council’s Tuesday meeting, the first vote on the possible changes was unanimous approval. The changes would include exceptions to the opt-out fee for agriculturally zoned properties, properties of 5 acres or more and multi-unit buildings with three or more units…
